My husband and I adopted Nova, a 2-year-old labrador/boxer/pitbull mix from the East Valley Animal Shelter. Her temperament is calm, she loves people, and we were told she would be good with cats and other dogs, which was imperative as we already have two cats. It turns out that she has a prey drive and is very interested in our cats. Neither of us are dog trainers and we lack the skills the safely attempt for everyone to tolerate each other.
Nova is potty-trained, sleeps in a crate at night, seems to be ok with dogs, and has a very calm demeanor. She really likes people, wags her tails often, and likes to gives kisses. But I have anxiety that she will hurt the cats. We’ve had to admit that we’re in over our heads; we don’t have the skills to train the dog/cat relationship to calm my fears of the cats being injured. We made a mistake in judging the best environment for Nova, and are now desperately looking to find a more suitable home so she can stay out of the shelter.

Nova was spayed on 5/19, is micro chipped, current on vaccinations, and has a clean bill of health.
